You meet someone, the conversation is good, they seem interested, maybe you even make plans. Then they disappear.
If this keeps happening, it’s easy to wonder, “Why do people keep ghosting me?”
Curious what you may be noticing early in dating, and what you might be missing?
There’s a difference between “We should do this again” and “Are you free Thursday?”
Both sound interested. Only one moves things forward.
Interest is easy. Follow-through tells you more.
Life happens. One rescheduled date isn’t automatically a warning sign.
The pattern matters.
If someone keeps canceling, pushing plans, or saying they’re too busy without making an effort to find another time, that tells you something about their availability.
Someone who wants to see you won’t always be free, but they’ll usually make an effort to figure out when they are.
They say they like you. They say they want something serious. They say they want to see you again.
Yet you’re always initiating, plans don’t happen, or they disappear for days.
One mixed signal might not mean much. Repeated inconsistency does.
When words and actions don’t match, watch the actions.

If you don’t text first, do they reach out?
If you don’t suggest the next date, do they?
There’s nothing wrong with initiating. The problem is when nearly all of the momentum is coming from you.
Sometimes what feels like ghosting is simply the moment you stopped doing the work for both people.
You may be looking for a relationship while the other person is dating casually or still figuring out what they want.
Nobody has to be wrong. You may just be moving in different directions.
It can help to ask earlier:
“What are you looking for right now?”
You might not love the answer, but it’s better than weeks of guessing.
That happens too.
People ghost because they lose interest, meet someone else, avoid uncomfortable conversations, or simply aren’t great communicators.
You can’t prevent every bad dating experience.
What you can do is get better at recognizing the difference between interest and actual investment.
Take the short quiz to see what you may be noticing, and what you might be missing, early in dating.
