THE WASHINGTON POST, The positively true adventures of dating in the 1990s, 7/13/17:

Back then it was considered rude to be broken up with over the phone, with the worst offense occurring via answering machine. You were broken up with in person. Those were the days of men. Now a guy simply stops speaking to you without warning, leaving you to wonder if he was hit by a bus on his way to meet you or if he left you sitting alone at a bar entirely on purpose and without regard for your feelings. And that’s only if you had plans to see each other again. In today’s dating world, you literally never know if your first, or fifteenth date will be the last time you see or hear from someone. Both are just as likely, percentage wise.

I’m of the last generation that will ever remember both. The world with the Internet, and without…See the full article here.

NEW YORK POST, Dating in other parts of the world can get weird, 7/12/17:

Love is a universal thing. Dating, not so much.

“In NYC there’s a bigger focus on pedigree,” says Aussie Adam Lewkovitz, who moved to New York City from Sydney in 2009. “They try to qualify you and what do you do. In Sydney, there’s more focus on lifestyle, and work is a means to support what you want to do”…See the full article here.

DAILY MAIL, Why having sisters makes men better husbands, 7/12/17:

According to a long-term study of 130 couples, men who don’t mind their wives influencing them have happier marriages and are less likely to divorce. And if you grow up with four sisters, you cannot help but be influenced by women.

I’ve certainly never been fazed by the opposite sex. They weren’t some mysterious ‘other’ species; they were just the people I’d grown up with.

Some of my teenage peers became either swaggering cockerels or gibbering wrecks in the presence of any girl they found attractive — and then wondered why their feelings of attraction weren’t reciprocated…See the full article here.

NEW YORK POST, New technology aims to thwart online dating fraud, 7/10/17:

As more Americans turn to dating apps for romance, the risk of being swindled by fake accounts has also grown. The online dating industry in the U.S. is worth more than $1 billion, according to market research group IBISWorld. Malware bots prey on singletons swiping through Tinder and other location-based dating apps, in an attempt to trick them into handing over valuable information like bank account numbers or passwords…See the full article here.
