Its website notes that Ambiance members are accomplished, educated, and cultured across various career paths—but most importantly, they are dedicated to finding a committed relationship.
The company combines a personalized, customized approach to matchmaking, and founder Leslie Wardman personally interviews and participates in the matchmaking process. Additionally, Ambiance prides itself in its intimate knowledge of its focus locations—11 major cities across the United States, from San Diego to Chicago to New York City—with Wardman having spent from one to three years in each location to better understand the culture, lifestyle, and more.
Leslie Wardman and Taylor Wade founded Ambiance Matchmaking in 2002. Wardman brought her expertise in professional networking and matchmaking and Wade lent her entrepreneurial experience to form an exclusive matchmaking company that takes a hands-on approach to helping accomplished singles find their person.
Ambiance Matchmaking doesn’t have a big presence on review sites, but on Reddit and Yelp, its reviews are largely positive.
There aren’t many mentions of Ambiance on Reddit. However, the two people who do say that they use Ambiance Matchmaking note that using matchmaking services is nice if you have the money and don’t have a lot of time to spend on dating apps. While these might not be glowing reviews, sometimes reasonable cost-benefit statements can be quite helpful.
Yelp reviews of Ambiance are nearly all five stars (with the exception of a few one-star reviews, one of which was refuted by the company because the person was never an Ambiance member). These reviews sing Ambiance’s praises, from high-quality matches to professional, efficient, and communicative matchmakers. One reviewer even says that they wish they had made the investment earlier. Another claims that Ambiance was their best experience with a matchmaking service.
Ambiance doesn’t have any complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. Regarding lawsuits, in 2016, an Oklahoma woman took Ambiance Matchmaking to small claims court, alleging that the company didn’t follow through with providing one to two matches per month, which was listed in the contract. The woman allegedly won the case, but we haven’t been able to corroborate the story through an online case search.
Ambiance is a legit company that provides matchmaking services to its members. Based on reviews, it does not seem like a scam in any way.
Not necessarily. While the membership application does require filling in information on annual income and estimated net worth, Ambiance seems to take more criteria into account, like education, career, location, and so on.
However, the high price of membership may naturally weed out those with lower net worths or incomes.
First, singles fill out an online application, detailing the basics (like religion, if they want children, level of education, profession, income, and more). Then, the Ambiance team will send a follow-up questionnaire to get a better feel for what type of individual you’re looking for. If Ambiance thinks you’d be a good fit, they’ll extend an invitation to interview with a matchmaker. The interview costs $225, which can be applied to your membership costs.
Once you’re a member, matchmakers will conduct customized, in-depth searches in your preferred location, presenting one to two matches per month. Matches may be chosen from the Ambiance member network, its private matchmaking network, or externally; the Ambiance Digital Recruitment team recruits high-quality singles daily as potential hand-selected match options.
For every approved match, Ambiance sets up video dates or in-person dates at a partner restaurant. Then, members can provide post-date feedback to their matchmaker to help inform the next match.
All memberships last 12 months, but members have the option to put their membership on hold. An alternative to becoming a member is applying to join the free singles database, where you may be matched with a member but no active search will be conducted on your behalf.
Ambiance Matchmaking offers local, regional, national, and international memberships, meaning that the company will conduct searches in your city/state, regionally, nationally, or internationally.

However, in one of its blog articles, it mentions the price range for high-end matchmakers as $25,000 to $100,000—and it clearly specifies that Ambiance is in this category. So, Ambiance members can expect to pay up to $100,000 for a year-long matchmaking search.
For singles who have the money to spare, Ambiance Matchmaking may be worth it. The company has generally positive reviews from people who have had good experiences with the matchmaking service.
However, it might not be worth the money for individuals who can’t spend up to $100,000 a year. There are other equally professional and personalized matchmaking services available for much less than the cost of an Ambiance membership.
